Corn allergies, vacations and restaurants don’t really mix in anyway. Even though I always hold out hope that someone somewhere will understand and help us out, give us an evening we didn’t need to hide in and cook our food … Continue reading
I don’t normally blow my top but things have been happening that have infuriated me over the past well, 10 years of dealing with our sons’ corn allergy. The disregard, the disbelief and the total ignorance from so many professionals … Continue reading
I made up a recipe…It’s a Faux Moose. Desperation is the mother of invention in our house. We’ve removed sugar, removed wheat/gluten, of course NO CORN, removed dairy and felt completely desperate for something cold, creamy and dessert-like. I thought to myself I would love whipped cream or moose!!! This caused me to brain storm for a couple of days with what products we can use and what I can create with them. THIS FAUX MOOSE WAS BORN two days ago and been experimented with since. Different flavors, new colors. Delicious!!! Enjoy!!! Continue reading
Corn allergies, sensitivities, intolerances and any other term you want to use for corn hurting you, is daunting. Even worse then trying to avoid corn for yourself it’s avoiding corn for your little one. The younger the child the more difficult your job.
Kid’s don’t explain their pain, their discomfort, their itchy tongue… instead they lash out, they become distant, they are cranky or tired. It may cause a tiny rash on their cheeks, a redness of their ears, some dark circles under their eyes and including but not excluding any other symptom, runny noses.
As of May 2011, there will be 30 more teachers who have learned/studied and researched Neurological/behavioral Allergies, and hopefully they will help educate others too.
We are afraid of an Emergency Medical need, all medications contain corn in one form or another, this is very dangerous for our community. The glucose I.V. is derived from corn, that’s the first thing that is going to be placed in their veins for help. After that the list is expansive, the main problem of this is that when a medical professional is told that there is a corn allergy, they do not think of sugars, acids, preservatives or suspensions, they think of CORN, CORN SYRUP, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP. I have stood many hours trying to keep my son from getting harmed while we are trying to take care of an emergency situation. It’s very scary.
We are being suffocated, some literally, and others due to our decreasing ability to purchase any products with out having corn in our house, on our bodies or in our noses.
The product we bought was TRUE HEROES SOLDIER ACCESSORY SET. The age appropriate for this toy is 3+ in the toy there is a canteen, granade, binoculars, walkie talkie, head set, and dog tag and knife. All of these things go on or around the face. The product contains LEAD.
Anyone know anything about the American Disability Act for discrimination against our son due to his allergies. He was removed from a successful program in Literacy at the college after 2 wonderful uneventful semesters thanks to the help of the wonderful tutors and my administration of his medication.
